Job Summary

We are seeking a dependable and highly skilled Yard Manager to oversee organization and daily operations of our shop yard and steel inventory. This role is critical to keeping production running smoothly. The ideal candidate has excellent forklift skills, a strong understanding of structural steel, and a positive, team-first attitude.

Key Responsibilities

• Organize and maintain the shop yard and steel inventory

• Load and unload trucks safely and efficiently

• Locate, identify, and stage steel for production needs

• Transport materials between the yard and production areas

• Operate forklifts and other equipment with a high level of skill and safety awareness

• Assist in the shop and paint booth as needed

• Communicate clearly with shop personnel to support workflow and deadlines

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment

Required Qualifications

• Excellent forklift operating skills (experience required)

• Strong working knowledge of structural steel shapes, sizes, and materials

• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment

• Strong work ethic and reliability

• Positive attitude is a MUST — teamwork and professionalism are essential

• Must be able to read a tape measure

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience working in a steel fabrication or industrial shop

• Familiarity with shop drawings or material lists

• Experience coordinating material flow for production

Compensation

Hourly pay will be competitive and based on experience. Compensation will be discussed further with qualified candidates.
